Treasurer Update

We have a new fundraiser which started this past Monday that can be money earned to go towards your childs fees. It is a $10.00 Stevie B's coupon card. $8.00 credit will go towards yours childs fees. They may be returned if not sold if they are in good condition.

We also have a Waffle House coupon for a Grand Slam breakfast for $3.00. All $3.00 will be credited to your childs fees.

For those who were not able to make Monday night's meeting, I will be in the band room signing out coupons tomorrow evening Oct. 1st from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. If you have all fees paid in full, any earnings such as these and the fall fruit fundraiser will roll over to next year.

All Charms accounts will be updated by this weekend (cup fundraiser, recent fees paid, etc.) The only exception to this is Paulding Meadows credits. We are still awaiting one last invoice from Pepsi. Once we get this, we will post the earnings. We apologize for the delay.

Thank you!

Parade Today! Alumni Night Tomorrow!

Parade today for Homecoming! Please come out to Dallas, GA to support our students.

5:00 Report in Casual Uniform to Dallas Elementary. Busses will not be taken, but we will have some parents here with trucks to help haul large instruments. If you child plays a large instrument, we ask that they help us return the instrument to the band room. We will haul it back, but would like their assistance in unloading.

I look forward to seeing you at the parade!

Practice Tomorrow - 5:00PM to 8:00PM

We learned at today's practice that 8:00-9:00 is not a good time to learn drill because we run out of daylight. Earlier in the season our daylight would last us until at least 8:30, but tonight we were done learning drill by 8:00. In an effort to get the most out of our time together we moved the rehearsal start time to 5:00PM. Hopefully students have communicated this change to you already, but if not please make note of this change. I apologize for the sudden change of plans, but I appreciate any and all flexibility that you are able to have.

Percussion voted to hold a sectional from 8:00-9:00 in an effort to utilize our staff better. I will be at school tomorrow by 3:00 to open the band room for the colorguard who will continue to work on equipment for the show. I really appreciate everyone doing what it takes for us to put this show together. This is the last stretch! Let's finish strong!

I know that we have a vacation from school next week, but please practice your instrument and pay close attention to Defying Gravity. Any memorization practice you can do will help us in the long run. I look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday!

Report Time

Home game vs. Villa Rica on Friday. We have had some parents pulling extra hours getting our uniforms dry cleaned and the new ones hemmed and ready to go for this Friday's game. Thank you Ms. Cunningham, Mr. Lutz, Ms. Phelps, and Mr. Thomas for all of the extra work that you have done to help us have uniforms this Friday!

Since we are going to be wearing our uniforms this Friday - Report time has been moved to 5:00PM

Colorguard will be in their burgundy uniform this week and will be in their show uniform for next weeks game (weather permitting).

Thank you for your understanding, flexibility, and compassion. I look forward to seeing you all at Friday night's football game!

Rehearsals Next Week

Times for rehearsals next week were incorrect in Charms. I have updated the charms, and I wanted to clarify it in a message here in an effort to keep everyone on the same page.

Next Wednesday we have full band rehearsal form 6:00 - 9:00PM and Next Thursday we have full band rehearsal from 6:00 - 9:00PM.

These rehearsals are critical because of the timing of what is all coming up. We are still working on learning the remaining drill, there is an away game on Friday, and the County Exhibition is taking place on Tuesday 9/28.

Because of the week off from school we lose our Monday and Tuesday rehearsal times. The exhibition is resulting in the loss of another practice day and that same week (it is Homecoming week) we will be asked to perform in the Homecoming Parade. I do not have the details on that parade as of now, but I will publish that schedule as soon as I know. Traditionally the parade has taken place on the Thursday of that week in Dallas and we do not take busses. This will result in the loss of another rehearsal day. Thank you for your understanding of how important attendance is at practices, especially as we approach our competition weeks.

Car Wash - Cheeseburger Bobby's - Meal Fee

Hi Parents,
Just wanted to let everyone know that we will be having our Spirit Car Wash this coming saturday, Sept 18th from 9-1 @ the Waffle House on Rt 92 in Hiram. We will be needing STUDENT and PARENT participation, and we thank you in advance for your support.

Don't forget Cheeseburger Bobby's on Thursday night this week! Eat out and support the band!..

We still need water!!! Our water supply is dwindling and we still have several weeks of marching season left. If you have not donated your 3 cases yet, we sure could use your help. If you have already donated, thanks so much!!!

If you have not yet paid your $25.00 meal fee, it is past due. Your child will not be able to eat at the home games, compititions or at the exposition as we now have a list of students who have not paid, and your child was reminded tonight to get that fee paid as soon as possible.

For those parents who have not yet paid their fee installment, it is due on the 27th of Sept.

Thanks for all you do for your kids!!

Reminders from our Treasurers

Dear Parents,

Just a note to let everyone know what is coming up in the VERY near future.

PAULDING MEADOWS
Paulding Meadows is September 11 & 12 2010 and your child will be performing again this year which is awesome because they don’t usually invite a band back two years in a row so this is quite an honor!

PLEASE REPORT AT PAULDING MEADOWS WITH YOUR CHILD AT 8:30AM. PERFORMANCE IS AT 10:00AM.

We have had several people sign up and if you have not signed up, and wish to work, there are spots still available. Just stop by the band room and sign up OR have your child sign up for you. Kids who work the concession stand get credit on their acct, based on our profits for the weekend. Kids can sign up for two hour intervals, and after everyone who works get their two hours, they are welcome to sign up for more hours if any are available. This gives kids a chance to earn credit towards their band fees. Sign up sheets for the kids are in the band room TODAY.

We still have Paulding Meadow tickets for sale; they are $2.00 per ticket, which is a $1.00 savings from the gate. We bought 150 and still have several to get rid of....Please help us out and purchase your ticket today.

WE REALLY NEED, people to help Jeff Dillard set up the booth at Paulding Meadows, on FRIDAY NIGHT-9/3/2010 and will also need help cleaning up on Saturday Eve and Sunday evening. You will need to leave the football game a little early. Please contact Jeff @ 770-824-8318.

SEVERAL OTHER REMINDERS:
1. Our Cup fundraiser is going to come to a close on Sept 13th. Your child can earn $5.00 per 4/cup pkg (cost is 15.00). This is an easy fundraiser and can be a big money order to help pay your fees. Please put your childs name on ALL checks to receive your credit!!!

2. Monies for ALL-STATE- $20.00/and DISTRICT HONOR-$10.00 are due by Sept 10th. PLEASE CHECK YOUR BAND WEBSITE FOR FURTHER INFORMATION. If you do not PAY BY SEPT 10th, your child will not be able to participate in these events. We have to forward the money by 9/10/10.

3. Meal Fees are past due. $25.00 will cover 5 home games and 2 competitions and the exhibition.

4. Please ask your child if they ordered shoes. You may not know!! (Mine surprised me!) The shoes will not be given out until the $25.00 cost is paid. NOTE: These shoes are for Vets if they have outgrown their original shoes. Rookie shoes are paid for in their band fees.

5. Please check your Charms Acct for your balance due. Fee’s are due on Sept 27th. (no school on the 20th).

Thank you and let us know if we can be of further help.

District Honor Band / All-State

District Honor Band and All-State is due by September 10. We are fortunate to have Mr. Becton and Mr. Ferguson to come out on Mondays to help our students prepare for this competitive audition. The cost to audition for DHB is $10.00 and to audition for AS is $20.00. If you are auditioning for each then you pay the $30.00. Both auditions happen at Pepperell HS on Saturday, December 11. Times will be announced the week before auditions. If students are auditioning for AS they will have a second audition in January if they score high enough on their first audition.

Audition Materials can be found by clicking the link on the left: 9-10 All-State or 11-12 All-State.

We have had great participation for this in the past. Last year we had 23 students make District Honor Band! Let's keep the tradition alive and strong! This is a good way for students to set a personal goal and get better individually. The goal is to improve - regardless of the outcome our band gets better.

Students have had the option to indicate to me that they want to audition. If they let me know then I added a fee to their charms account. Students who do not pay by September 10 will not be signed up for the audition.
