Booster Meeting - CANCELLED

Due to the possibility of inclement weather, our administration has asked us to cancel all afterschool activities.  The booster meeting might be rescheduled to a later date, but is TBA at this time.

If you ordered pictures they came in today and I handed most of them out to the classes today. If you had to mail in your order separate, the orders are still being filled. I am guessing that they are mailing them to you?

WIND ENSEMBLE PERFORMS AT GSU

Thursday - Wind Ensemble is attending Georgia State University for the Honor Band of Distinction Clinic and are performing a concert in the Rialto Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30PM. Admission is free and open to the public. Please come downtown and support our Wind Ensemble.

FESTIVAL DATES AND TIMES

Wind Ensemble (WE): Monday, March 7, 2011 at 6:30PM
Concert Band (CB): Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 9:30AM
Symphonic Band (SB): Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 11:30 AM

WE will leave on Monday right after-school.  CB and SB will travel at the same time on Tuesday.  Report time is 7:15AM on Tuesday morning.  Please report in concert attire with everything needed for the performance.  We will visit Stevie B's as an ensemble after our performances.  I will call Stevie B's to try to secure a discount for our students.  They have helped us in the past, but I have not confirmed this as of today.

This week : PRE-FESTIVAL

Monday: All students report afterschool. Order: WE, SB, CB. All students will be finished by 6:00pm.

Tuesday: Pre-Festival at Hiram High School.
Concert Band will ride a bus over to HHS at 2:40PM. Their performance time is 5:30PM. Make sure that you bring your concert attire to school with you tomorrow. The bus will return to SPHS around 6:30PM.

Symphonic Band: report time 6:30PM at HHS in the lobby of the performing arts center, wearing concert attire with instrument in case. Your performance time is 8:00PM.

Wind Ensemble: report time 8:30PM at HHS in the lobby of the performing arts center, wearing concert attire with instrument in case. Your performance time is 10:00PM.

Thursday: District Honor Band at Heritage High School in Catoosa County. Registration is at 7:00PM. The concert is on Saturday, beginning at 3:30PM. Please bring a music stand with you.

Butts for Band - Pick Up Location CHANGED

Due to the inclement weather it is taking a tad bit longer to cook the butts and making transporting them to the school a more difficult task. Instead of picking them up at the school - please note that we are distributing them for pick up at POPLAR SPRINGS BAPTIST CHURCH. The church is located at Nebo Rd. and Hwy 92. You can still pick them up between 10 and 2, but I ask that you please pick them up as early and as close to 10 as possible. The parents who are cooking them for us are staying up all night and will finally get to go home and possibly get some rest once all of the butts have been picked up.

Pick up Butts for Band in the SPHS front parking lot from 10:00AM-2:00PM. Please thank Mr. Smith and his crew of parents who are helping to cook the meat. They started cooking the Boston Butts this morning and will continue cooking through the evening. Jim N' Nicks donated the wood that we are using to cook the meat. Please thank our parents who are making this possible and Jim N' Nicks for their generous donation.

Basketball Pep-Band: 3:15 Report time. Please wear blue jeans and your show shirt. The first game starts at 4:00PM and the second game is at 5:00PM. We will be done by 7:00PM.

Please wish Zach Allen and Katie Webb good luck today. They have an audition for the final round of the Governor's Honors Program. If they pass this round then they will attend GHP this summer! Congratulations for making it this far; GOOD LUCK!
