E-mail from Mrs. Haley
Good Evening! If you are receiving this email twice let me start out by apologizing. I don't think any bellsouth account received the first email as I did not get it myself so here we go again.
Just a couple of reminders about the dinner concert that is coming up this Thursday, November 17th at 6:00 pm. Cost of the dinner concert is $5.00 per person payable at the door. Band students will eat for free.
First, your child should have brought home a RSVP form last week that was due back last friday. If you have not filled this out, please fill it out and send back in tomorrow as we need to get a good head count for Thursday night. If you would prefer to just email me your count that is fine as well. Please do not include your band student in the count.
Just a reminder of what each student is to provide for the dinner:
Percussion and Guard - dessert (please have those at the school on Thursday as close to 5:00 as possible)
Winds - 2 -2 liter sodas (please have those at the school by Wednesday if possible)
Lastly, if you have volunteered to bring a crock pot of food, THANK YOU! Also, please make sure you label your crock pot with your name, what it is (we will have index cards at the school as well) and please bring a serving spoon (name on your spoon as well)
We still need volunteers to help serve and clean up. Remember set up help needs to be at the school at 5:00 pm and servers need to be there at 5:30 pm.
Thank you again to everyone who has volunteered to help out in some way on Thursday night. We are looking forward to a wonderful dinner and great music from our band.

Fall Auditions
Etudes have been uploaded to Charms for the fall auditions. The tentative date for auditions is November 18.
Audition requirements:
Scale Test: All students will demonstrate as many scales as they can play from memory in 2 minutes; more points will be rewarded for multiple octaves.
Chromatic Scale: All students will demonstrate their facility of range by performing the Chromatic range that is required by the Georgia Music Educators Association (posted on the band room wall)
Etude: All students will demonstrate artistic ability through maturity of tone, interpretation of style, articulation, intonation, tempo, and expression in a prepared etude.
Sight-Reading: All students will sight-read an etude after studying for only 30 seconds. They will demonstrate their understanding of all basic music fundamentals - tone, technique, articulation, tempo, rhythm, intonation, and phrasing.

VS Kell HS Tomorrow Night - GSU Band Day Tickets
Tomorrow's football game is VS Kell HS. This is our last regular season football game. Mr. McAllister, our athletic director, has arranged for our busses to leave SPHS at 5:00PM. Students need to be in uniform by 4:45, so I have advised students to stay here afterschool, we will load the trailer ASAP after the bell.
I just received a document that says, "Please inform your students and community that half of our parking will be paid parking for $5 in the second entrance on Lee Waters Road. If they would like to have free parking they can go to the third entrance on Lee Waters Road." Looking at the map, the paid lots are closest to the stadium and the free lots are about as far away from their stadium as our teacher's parking lot or Dugan's parking lot are to our stadium.
Although it cannot be as special as Senior Night last week, let's make this last ball game fun and memorable!

DISNEY TRIP
Greetings!
We have had just under 80 people sign-up for the Disney Trip. I talked to the travel agent to see how much the cost of the trip would be if we only had 80 instead of the quoted 110. At 80 participants the cost increases by $35.00. Please understand that the price increases only because of the cost of the busses. A portion of the individual trip price is calculated by taking the price of the bus and dividing it by the number of participants When the price is divided by 80 the individal cost is more than if it were divided by 110.
The cost of the trip is currently for 110 members going:
Quad Occupancy $650.00 (add $35.00 if only 80 are going)
Tprl Occupancy $675.00 (add $35.00 if only 80 are going)
Dbl Occupancy $726.00 (add $35.00 if only 80 are going)
Sngl Occupany $879.00 (add $35.00 if only 80 are going)
Please let e-mail me at director@spiritofsouthpaulding.org if the $35.00 is a deal breaker. Please keep in mind that all of the meals are included and the students will participate in 3 days at Disney and 1 day at Universal (Harry Potter). If you are still interested in going please get your $200.00 deposit in ASAP. We will update you on the status of the trip on Novemember 14.

Friday 11/4 (Game Day) Report time is 4:45PM. We are playing Kell HS and will leave early to beat traffic.
Saturday 11/5 (GSU Band Day) Report to school at 7:15AM. Remember to bring money for lunch at the CNN Center (about $10)
Monday 11/7 Report to school by 8:00AM. We will be performing at Dugan ES during 1st period.
