2011 GIBC SCHEDULE

Below is the schedule of the competition on Saturday.   Please come support the band and wear your Spirit Wear PROUDLY!  It has already been an incredible year, but let's give the kids the crowd of a lifetime and make a lot of noise for them at this weekend!  My thoughts of going to a local competition was to get our home crowd there to experience the competition with us!  See you there!

My best guess is that we will arrive back at SPHS by about 11:00PM.  Also, Cheeseburger Bobby's is opening the store for us so that we have a place to celebrate besides IHop.  Although we have a Cheeseburger Bobby Night tomorrow night, let's please have a good showing after the competition since we have made special arrangements for John to open his business. 

Itinerary for Tomorrow

Report time - 1:00PM (The band room will be open at 12:00PM if you need to come in to polish an instrument or get things together before report time.)

We will be feeding the students subway around 4:00pm, which will be a light dinner.  Please be sure to report after eating a sensible lunch.  We have a long day ahead of us and you will need your energy to remain focused.

Performance time 8:00PM

Awards are scheduled from 10:00PM-11:00PM.  My best estimate for arrival back at SPHS is 12:30AM.  Many students and parents have started a tradition of meeting at IHop after competitions and I have heard many speaking about continuing the tradition.  Please join us!  We would love to see you. 

Booster Meeting Monday, October 17th

Monday October 17th at 7:00PM will be our monthly Booster Meeting.

We are still selling the Exhibition Shirts. If you are interested in one they will be available at the meeting to purchase.

Friday: Home Game Report Time is 5:30PM, in uniforms and ready to go by 6:00PM

Saturday: Report to SPHS at 1:00PM.
Students that have paid their MEAL FEE will be fed at the school before heading to competition.

Cookie Dough Delivery

Cookie Dough will be delivered on October 27, 2011.  It will be available for pick-up after band practice.  Band practice will be finished by 5:00PM since we are finished competing by then.

Double Reed Day - Hosted by GSU

Double Reed Day - Hosted by Georgia State University on Saturday, November 12, 2011

This daylong workshop is designed for all double reed players and will be a wonderful opportunity for students to meet, learn from and perform with other talented players from throughout the region.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn from guest clinicians though master classes, workshops, and Q&A sessions. The day culminates in a Guest Artist recital in the beautiful Florence Kopleff Recital Hall.
All events will take place on the campus of Georgia State University in downtown Atlanta.

GSU Band Day!

Hello!  I am very sorry for the late notice, but I just realized that I missed the deadline for the GSU Band Day.  I am contacting them to register the students tomorrow.  I will have students sign up during class and send them the info tomorrow after practice. 

The event costs: $10.00 per student participating and $15.00 per parent who would like to attend the game with us.  Please turn in the money to the red box by Monday.  GSU Band Day is November 5, 2011 in the GA Dome.  A schedule will follow as soon as it is posted. 

On another note - we received a tentative performance time for the first competition.  An itinerary for the day will be announced soon - until then please continue to plan for the entire day.  We perform at Haralson County at 8:00PM on October 15.

SATURDAY PRACTICE 10/8

Saturday Practice is from 8:00AM - 5:00PM

Please note: Lunch will be provided to those students whose MEAL FEE HAS BEEN PAID.

If you have not paid the Meal Fee for your child, please make sure you send a lunch
with them so they will have something to eat.

They can bring a snack(s) also due to the long practice time.
