Update

Our fall Fruit Fundraiser has begun. For those who were not able to attend Monday's meeting, there are order forms available in the band room. Profits earned (approximately 33%) will go toward your child's band fees. ALL orders must be handed in by Friday Nov. 5th. For additional information please contact Vice President Melvin Jancarek at jancarekk@bellsouth.net or 770 - 871 - 9134

GSU Band Day, Nov. 6th
For those parents who are attending the game, and aren't chaperones, but would like to ride the bus with the students to the Georgia Dome, there is a sign up sheet on Mr. Carr's door. The cost is $5.00 per person. Payments can be placed in the red box in Mr. Carr's office.

Thank You to all who have worked in Concessions so far this year!! It is a great undertaking and cannot be done without the help of many, many volunteers. We are still in need of people to work in the concession stand, grill, and fried Oreo's, for our last home game Friday Nov. 5th. This is also 8th Grade Band Night for next year's incoming Freshman. If you can help please contact Becky Smith to help. Bamafans92@yahoo.com or 770 - 595 - 4073

Thanks again to everyone for your continued support.

CONGRATULATIONS

I am so PROUD of our students and parents! Our competition at NPHS was a success : )

Parents: The day was very smooth! Thank you for your help with lunch, equipment, chaperoning, and all the other little fires that you helped me put out that I didn't even know about.

Students: The energy during that performance was the best energy that we have had all year! Never forget the feeling that you had coming off of that field. The pride, excitement, and joy that you earned was outstanding : )

I look forward to seeing how far we can come this week in preparation for next weekend!

Senior Night

Below is the letter sent home by Mr. Cherry in regards to Senior Night.

[Senior] Parents:

You are invitied to our Senior Night on Friday, October 22. We will have a reception in the media center from 5:30 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. We will recognize our senior band members, cheerleads, and football players/managers before the game with PCHS. This special recognition will take place [on the field] between 6:45 p.m. - 7:15 p.m.

Thanks

Greg Cherry,
Assistant Principal
Athletic Director

The band will be marching into the stadium at 6:30 p.m. It is optional for your child to march in that night because of the senior night festivities. In years past, students have wanted the chance to march in with the band during their last home game - so I just wanted you to know what time we were leaving so that your child can participate in both events if you would like. After marching in, the Seniors will report to the field instead of the seats in time for the Pre-Game ceremony.

I look forward to making this an honorable experience for the Seniors!

NO REHEARSAL TOMORROW (WEDNESDAY)

Due to early release and because the students have been working extremely hard - No rehearsal tomorrow 10/5/2010.

We will still rehearse on Thursday from 3:45 - 6:30 and Friday from 3:45 - 6:00.

Saturday's itinerary was posted on Monday - please scroll down to the previous blog post for it.

We are feeding the students Subway on Saturday. A sign-up sheet is on my door. Please remind your child to sign up.

After the competition we invite you to Cheeseburger Bobby's to celebrate the hard the work that the students have done. The award ceremony starts at 8:30 - so it may be an earlier night that some competition nights in the past. Cheeseburger Bobby's is one of our corporate partners. Let's continue to patronize their business so that they can continue to be a strong supporter of our students. They are offering us a cheeseburger, fries, and a drink for $6.00.

Also on my door is a GSU Band Day sign-up sheet. Cost is $15.00, which covers a shirt and a seat to the game. Money is due by October 15, 2010. The event is on Nov. 6 at the GA Dome. Participating students will get to perform halftime with the GSU Band based on "Glee." If we have enough students sign-up then we will schedule busses to take the students.
