JSU Flute Festival More Info

Below is an e-mail from Dr. Benson, the flute professor at Jacksonville State University.  This sounds like a very good opportunity for our flute students!  No pressure and very educational!  Parents are welcome to attend as well.

Hi Chris!
Thanks for you message.
Absolutely! Anyone can attend any portion of the festival. There is no registration and no costs.

Friday PM will be an opening concert at 6:00, and then a full group rehearsal from 7-9:00PM. This is for ALL FLUTISTS.

Saturday we begin at 10am with a low flutes masterclass (alto, bass, contrabass, sub contrabass, and double contrabass flutes, LOL). 11-noon is another rehearsal; 12-1:00 is lunch (free pizza provided); 1:00-2:30 is the final rehearsal; and 3:00 is the Gala Concert for everyone to perform the works rehearsed during the rehearsals.

It is a time of low flutes, low stress, and ensemble work. There are flutists of all ages attending (younger elem. age to retirees), and nobody will ever be put on the spot.

I hope your students can make it over and enjoy the day (esp. Saturday).

Remember, JSU is located in CST zone, so maybe this will help with the timing of your students' traveling...?

All best,
