We have two very big events coming up this week: our Holiday Collaboration of the Arts and the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Christmas Parade.
Thursday, December 5th - SPHS Collaboration of the Arts - 6:30 PM
Tickets are $5 and can be purchased all week during lunch. Tickets will also be available at the door on Thursday evening (as long as the event has not already sold out.) Buy your tickets early!
Students should be in the band room, dressed and ready to perform, no later than 6:00 PM. The Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band will all warm up in the Band Room together at 6:00 PM. We will be wearing "Sunday Best" again for this performance.
Saturday, December 7th - Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Christmas Parade
We are very excited to have been selected to perform in the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Christmas Parade on December 7th. The parade will be live on WSB-TV on the 7th, and is usually re-broadcast on WSB on Christmas day. As in the past, we will wear our Marching Band uniforms with Santa Hats to the parade. Students will need to provide their own Santa Hat. Here are the logistics for the morning of the 7th:
7:40 AM - Students arrive at SPHS
8:00 AM - Depart for the CHOA Christmas Parade
9:15 AM - Arrive at the staging area
10:30 AM - Parade Begins - We are number 42 in the parade!
12:00 PM - Parade Ends. We will then transition to The Varsity for lunch.
2:30 PM - Arrive back at SPHS
For students who are planning on checking out and going with their families after the parade, they will need to check out from our lead chaperone at the buses (they will be parked on West Peachtree somewhere between 3rd and 9th.
Parade Route: The route stretches one mile along Peachtree St. between 16th and 5th Streets. The TV performance zone stretches for a city block between 12th and 11th Streets.
