GMEA Trip Itinerary Change - School closed tomorrow

The Paulding County School District has closed schools tomorrow.  Due to the inclement weather and unsafe conditions on the roads, we will not be departing for GMEA on Thursday.  I have notified the GMEA Executive Director and State Band Chair to inform them of our inability to travel.  Unfortunately at this time there has not been any consideration of postponing the conference.  I am extremely proud of the hard work that you have put in to preparing the concert program and wish that we were able to present it at the state conference.  However, the weather is out of our control and your safety is way more important to me than any accolades that we could receive.

I have spoken with a few of the other performing ensembles and am working on a combined concert date that will allow us to present our material together for each other.  I will let you know more as I know more.

As for the Troy performance, this is the plans as of right now.  Conditional that we have school on Friday, we will report to school as normal, meet during 3rd period and remain in Wind Ensemble class until we depart.  We will rehearse and get ready to depart for Troy during this time.  We will eat lunch at school before we depart and will still have dinner on Friday at Golden Corral in Columbus on the way to Troy.  The rest of the itinerary should be ok.
